In my working life, I have had a lot of contacts and collaborated with colleagues from the North West University (NWU) in Potchefstroom (South Africa).
This collaboration even continued during the pandemic because online consultations could occur. The NWU aims to connect with pensioners because they want to use their expertise and experience.
On the advice of one of my colleagues in South Africa, after my retirement on October 1, 2022, I applied for an (unpaid) position at the university.
This application has resulted in an appointment as an extraordinary professor at the research group Edu-HRight (Education and Human Rights in Diversity). I research with South African colleagues and publish about it in scientific journals.
My appointment means a nice crowning of my many years of contacts and cooperation with my South African colleagues.
