DCU Research Centre publishes an English-language article on (re)-vitalizing the school mission

How to fulfill your mission as a school and as a teacher? In a rapidly changing world, this is an important question. Processes such as globalization, individualization and secularization affect what happens in the school.

This applies to Christian schools worldwide. But even without these processes, it is important to look at the school’s mission statement.

Are we, starting from our vocation, doing the right things and doing them in the right way? That question must be answered not only by school leaders but also by teachers. Individual and collective reflection can help teachers to make a personal commitment to the school's mission. And those who have been practicing in the classroom for a long time can examine their own functioning within the school.

In this article, Bram de Muynck and Bram Kunz have formulated various indicators to determine the mission of the school in the current situation.

This article has been published with open access in a Special Issue of the journal Religions on October 23, 2023, under the title Christian Education: Retrospects and Prospects (editors: Prof. Simangaliso R. Kumalo and Dr. Honoured Taruona). The title of the article is Revitalizing the Mission: The Challenge for Christian Education to Discover Contextual Vocation and Ethos. Religions 14: 1330.
