Yesterday, we celebrated the certification of our International Class, marking the successful completion of a remarkable journey. Looking back on this time, we are filled with gratitude for the experiences we've shared together – a journey of study, cultural exchange, personal growth, and the building of lasting friendships.
The International Class course consists of four core modules, each designed to offer valuable insights and foster development in both personal and professional spheres:
- Christian Education in a Historical Perspective: In this module, students explored the rich history of Christian education, from foundational thinkers like Aristotle and St. Augustine to Dutch intellectuals such as Waterink and Bavinck. The aim was to deepen the understanding of Christian pedagogy by critically engaging with the ideas of these historical figures.
- Christian Education and Classroom Practice: Here, students focused on linking theory to practice. Together, we explored the role of a Christian teacher and how biblical principles, such as stewardship, can influence teaching practices. Important themes, including teacher-student relationships and authority in the classroom, were discussed in small groups, allowing everyone to learn from each other’s experiences and perspectives.
- Christian Belief in Personal and Professional Life: This module challenged students to reflect on how their Christian worldview and faith in Christ impact both their personal lives and their roles as educators. Through dialogue and exploration of diverse perspectives on God and humanity, students gained a deeper understanding of how their faith shapes their teaching.
- Intercultural Development: Students had the opportunity to reflect on their own cultures as well as those from around the world. Through this process, they developed greater intercultural awareness, both personally and professionally. Their time in the Netherlands was enhanced by excursions to iconic Dutch landmarks, providing a rich glimpse into Dutch culture and history.
As a school, we are incredibly proud of all that our International Class students have achieved. This certification is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and the personal growth they have experienced throughout the course. We are confident that the knowledge, skills, and relationships they have gained will continue to enrich their lives and careers.
We are thankful for everyone that was involved in making this experience a success. We look forward to seeing how the students and teachers continue to grow and contribute to the global community.
